Types of Grow Lights

There are basically three types of LED grow lights: HPS, MH, and LED.

HPS stands for high-pressure sodium bulbs and is the most common type of grow light used in commercial agriculture.

MH stands for metal halide and is the old-school type of light used in growers markets and small scale hydroponics.

LEDs use a series of small LEDs as their heat source, so they produce a whiter light than HPS or MH lights.

What Are LEDs Good For?

One advantage that LEDs have over HPS lights is that they use far less energy. This means that you can save money on your electricity bills by using an LED light instead of an HPS light.
