Types of Dental Implants

Implants are small devices that are inserted into the teeth to replace a missing tooth or provide support to a tooth. There are three types of dental implants: fixed, removable and provisional.

Fixed implant: A fixed implant is permanently inserted into the jawbone and cannot be removed. They are most commonly used in cases of severe tooth loss where a full replacement is not possible or desired. Benefits of a fixed implant include greater stability and less likelihood of implant failure.

Removable implant: A removable implant is a type of implant that can be easily replaced if it becomes worn or damaged. It is placed in the jawbone by drilling through the bone and then inserting the implant into the hole.

Provisional implant: A provisional implant is an implanted device that is not yet fully qualified for use in dentistry but has been shown to be effective in treating certain dental conditions. Provisional Implants are typically used in cases where full replacement teeth are not possible or desired, such as when a tooth has been lost due to decay or injury.
